The Gloucester Group presents its inaugural production in a double bill of short chamber operas by young composer Louis Mander. 'The Mariner', based on Samuel Taylor Coleridge's poem 'The Rime of the Ancient Mariner', sets the poet's original verse to tell Coleridge's dark and foreboding story of the mariner and his tale of guilt and redemption.'The Clown of God' is derived from the play of the same name by Michael Arditti, imagining the true story of celebrated ballet dancer Vaslav Nijinsky in his declining years, incarcerated in a sanatorium cell in Switzerland. With dancer Pere Bodi Perez; directed by Ann Pennington and choreogaphed by Sue Lefton.
