Like classical piano music? Like total sensory deprivation? Then you'll love this strange little show that has found its perfect niche in Steinway & Sons opulent piano showrooms in Marylebone. OK, so the target audience is pretty niche too (it’s one for classical music fans who like being blindfolded and led around in complete darkness by strangers while voices whisper eerie stuff into their ears via headphones).
It doesn’t have as much impact as previous shows by creators Lundahl&Seitl, who act like ghosts in the theatre or gallery, appearing briefly in period costume then fading into the dark. And I still can’t tell you what it has to do with W T Stead, the investigative journalist who predicted his own death on the Titanic. But this curious incident of the piano in the nighttime is a refreshing oddity in a great zone 1 space, with an impassioned piano recital by experimental pianist Cassie Yukawa at the end of it.
