Neil Gore's play tells the true story of an inspiring group of Asian women who made the headlines campaigning for workers' rights. Led by Jayaben Desai, they rebelled against their poor working conditions with a two year-long strike. The show's title comes from Desai's words as she stood up to their oppressive manager.
'We are the Lions, Mr Manager!' is staged by Townsend Productions, who specialise in work that looks at the history of left-wing movements. Louise Townsend directs.
