The day begins at 10am with a Singing Entrepreneur Forum, a two day event for singers inspiring success, survival, employability and solvency in the classical music industry. On this first day fifteen speakers share their experiences of thriving today in the classical singing industry. At 3pm Rudyard Kipling's famous 'Just So' stories are given operatic and poetic shape in Danyal Dhondy's musical setting fusing four of the fables of animal antiquity in a dramatic presentation. At 7.10pm, Tête à Tête presents Charlotte Bray's 'Making Arrangements', an adaptation of Elizabeth Bowen's short story about a divorcing couple, a deserted husband and revenge on a wife through her dresses. At 8.10pm, mortal and mythological worlds collide in 'Hera's List', Eve Harrison's piece about a dejected man's struggle for independence, despite chaotic interference from Greek Goddess Hera with her whimsical list of goddesses. Also at 8.10pm, the Warehouse Ensemble returns for the third year running, bringing your yearly selection of Six Word Operas. Then at 9pm Gestalt Opera will present Toby Young's 'The Daisy Chain', a radical re-envisioning of the Rumpelstiltskin tale, fusing courtly love, psychotherapy and sadomasochism.
