Call yourself a gamer? Then you’ll want to call into Pokémon GO Summer Quest, a celebration inspired by the spirit of adventure at the heart of the game. Running around the Green at Boxpark in Shoreditch from August 1-2 – and again from August 8-9 – it’s your chance to play games, grab free coffee and celebrate 10 years of everyone’s free mobile game. Here are five reasons why you need to check it out – catch ‘em if you can!

1 It’s a real-world Pokémon GO playground
Bringing all the challenges and fun of Pokémon GO from your iPhone or Android into the real world – even more so than augmented reality – the Summer Quest pop-up is a chance for gamers to look up from their screens and head outside this summer. Consider the area around the Green at Boxpark as one big screen you’ve stepped right into!

2 It’s completely free!
The event is free, meaning Trainers can enjoy this experience in the sunshine and play with their friends and families in the Shoreditch area. Free Timed Research will be up for grabs for those exploring the area around the event from 10am to 11.59pm on both weekends with a map available on their website so you know the boundaries! Once it’s in the bag, Trainers will have until August 31 to complete their Timed Research and claim amazing in-game rewards.

3 There’s complimentary coffee up for grabs…
Once you’re finished with the first stage, you can head to the Pokémon GO pop-up coffee station in Box Park, Shoreditch, and show the hipster barista your progress to bag yourself a complimentary hot or cold coffee. But you better be quick about it – the pop-up is only open from 10am and 7pm across both weekends, and free cuppas are on a first-come, first-served basis limited to 2,000 drinks per day. Talk about an incentive.

4 …and grand prizes to be won, too!
We’re talking about a five-night trip for two to Japan with return flights included and the chance for you and a friend to nip across the pond to the Pokémon GO Fest 2027 in Europe. Better still, you might even meet creators Miniminter and Chunkz on August 1 – celebrities in the gaming world! – when you’ll be able to learn more about their race and swap tricks. To enter, simply complete the local Timed Research, use the ‘What’s Your Favorite?’ feature in the game and share your post on Instagram using #PokemonSummerQuest. You’ll have to get your submission in before midnight on August 31 and make sure your profile is public so you’re visible to the judges. And remember, Trainers can compete in both the local and nationwide Time Research, but you’ll only be able to bag one prize. If a Trainer is selected as a winner in both prize draws, only one prize will be awarded, and an alternate winner will be selected for the other prize. Good luck!

5 Digital gamers can still join in the fun
Can't make it to London? Not to worry. Trainers across the UK will be able to join in the fun with free nationwide Timed Research, so nobody will miss out. Simply log on from August 1-9 between 10am and 11.59pm to receive free Timed Research courtesy of the Summer Quest – find it in the Events tab. Once you’ve got it, you’ll have until before midnight on August 31 to complete your mission and claim those rewards, just like everyone else. Go, go, go!
