1. London Restaurant Festival (June 1-30)

A city-wide celebration of everything that makes London the culinary capital of the world, London Restaurant Festival has returned for the month of June. As ever, it’s serving up everything from restaurant tours and cooking masterclasses to chef collaborations and live entertainment, while showcasing the hottest new openings turning up the temperature. Our picks? A handful of smoking-hot events that teach you how to cook over fire – including on the covetable Big Green Egg, the barbie of choice for professionals – not to mention a discovery-tour series that enables you to visit three spots in one day. Better still, Amex Gold Cardmembers can get their foodie fingers on special tickets, meaning you’ll be first in line for all the eats, while there’s a series that spotlights London’s most exciting chefs (Sally Abé and Karl O’Dell included). This summer, the hottest table in the house is the whole damn city.

2. Somerset House Summer Series (July 16-26)

If you need another excuse to visit Somerset House, the historic building on the Strand housing a myriad of exhibitions and events, then the Summer Series might just be it. No less than 11 nights of unforgettable music this July will transform the iconic courtyard into a stage for some of the hottest established and emerging talent from around the world – The Flaming Lips, Agnes Obel and Venna included. Better still, Cardmembers can bag last-minute tickets, so even those who don't plan ahead won't miss out.

3. The Championships, Wimbledon (June 30-July 13)

It’ll be game, set and match this summer as Wimbledon once again captivates the country with its sporting prowess and plenty of blood, sweat and tears. As usual, you can expect powerhouse players, pristine grass courts and competitive spirits, not to mention plenty of grunting as those iconic yellow balls are smashed back and forth across Centre Court. And that’s not even mentioning the Pimm’s, Champagne and strawberries and cream that will be consumed during the Championships! Better still, Amex Gold Cardmembers will get enviable access to the Amex® Cardmember Lounge to recharge between matches and the Amex Pavilion for cooling off with soft-serve ice-cream, as well as 20% off the Official Wimbledon Online Store, plus loads more. The ball’s in your court, as they say.
