[title]Vibrant, warm and celebratory, there’s something about Thai culture that just feels inviting.
But there’s good news for those who can’t squeeze a long-haul flight into their summer schedule: a free Thai festival is touching down in the capital. Taking place at Potters Fields Park beside Tower Bridge from July 17-19, Thailand Showcase 2026 will serve up Thai food, culture, art and wellness to those with an appetite for the much-loved country.
Organised in partnership with the Royal Thai Embassy and the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), Ministry of Commerce Thailand, there’ll be over 50 entrepreneurial businesses at the festival spanning everything from food to fashion. Plus, some of London’s best Thai restaurants will be showcasing their signature flavours to hungry festival-goers. We’re talking about the likes of Patara, Slurp Thai, Kin+Deum, Thai Square, The Great Thai, Siam Niyom and Monkey and Me. And you can bet your bottom baht that every single bite will be worth trying – most of the vendors have been given the ultimate stamp of approval by Thai SELECT, a mark of certification awarded by the DITP and the Royal Thai Government to guarantee the authentic taste of Thai food.
But that’s not all. You can also expect live cooking demos by Thai SELECT culinary masters – including chefs Chariya Khattiyot (winner of MasterChef UK 2023), Sebby Holmes from Farang London and Wichet Khongphoon from Supawan Thai Food. Alongside the food there’ll be wellness sessions, fashion shows, traditional massage workshops, a craft marketplace and live entertainment.
Throughout the weekend, guests will also be invited to experience the power and elegance of Muay Thai through interactive workshops, live demonstrations and stage performances. This includes a special appearance by London's very own Muay Thai World Champions, Jonathan Haggerty and Freddie Haggerty, on July 18. Suitable for all ages, these activities offer visitors the chance to discover Thailand’s national sport and one of its most celebrated cultural traditions.
The undisputed cultural highlight, however, has to be the stunning Chud Thai exhibition. This showcase highlights the royal initiatives of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother in preserving the eight iconic styles of traditional Thai attire designed by Her Majesty. There’ll also be a raft of prizes up for grabs if you know where to look – including return flights to Thailand courtesy of Thai Airways and EVA Air, plus plenty of exclusive merch and gifts.
The best bit? London is one of only 12 landmark cities around the world taking part in Thai celebrations spanning 43 countries under the theme ‘Creative Life and Creative Heartbeat’, once again proving just how cosmopolitan and vibrant our fair capital really is.
