Africa at Spitalfields is back for its sixth year, offering city dwellers the chance to experience (and purchase a bit of) African culture without leaving the capital. The one-day market takeover will see produce and cuisine from all corners of the continent, as well as stallholders selling everything from art, literature, kids clothing, handcrafted dolls, instruments and street food. It's all completely free, and you can find out more here.

Lovely day out! I go to this event every year & there's always lots to see and buy and always a great vibe. It's very family friendly too and the kids love it! I'd like to see more food stalls but the ones that were there served some delicious African food. Looking forward to next year
What a wonderful event, I took my two small kids yesterday and there was African story telling, dancing and good music. The event seemed well organised with a programme of things to do and i'd guess at about 80 - 100 stalls selling different products and services from the African continent.
Was a very good day with lots of vibrant colours and an excellent mix of stalls from jewellry to fashion and artistic stalls. It seemed like a well organised event with an emphasis on something for everyone in the family and some great entertainment for all ages! i'll be looking out for the next one for me and the family
This event was very disappointing. I was expecting more food stalls but there were very few and some of them were definitely not African food, which was a real pity. The rest of the stalls were quite nice but most of the fashion stalls were selling very similar things and it would have been nice to see more of the continent represented at this event.
