This festive season, you and the fam can enjoy a very merry mix of seasonal transport history and an abundance of festive cheer at London Transport Museum – complete with a jam-packed programme. From meet and greets with the big man, Santa, to live musical performances from young musicians and a festive trail through Christmases past, you’re in for a real festive treat here.

*Kids go free, and adult tickets offer free return daytime entry for a year. Santa will be at the Museum until 17:00 on 23 December. London Transport Museum will be closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day and reopen on 27 December. The London Transport Museum shop and café will be open until 16:00 on Christmas Eve. Meet Santa and his magical elves

Step into a wonderful winter scene where Santa has set up shop in Covent Garden this Christmas. One for the littlies, hop aboard a Routemaster bus-inspired sleigh with all the bells and whistles you’d expect. Cheerful elves will also be on hand to capture that picture-perfect moment. Say cheeeese – or mince piiiies!
Meet some of the most nostalgic Christmas characters

This Christmas season, you and the fam can enjoy meeting a variety of historic (and iconic) Christmas characters at London Transport Museum. With beloved characters including a Victorian lady, a 1970s Caribbean conductor and a tram passenger, you’ll be blown away by their nostalgic looks – and grand stories of their time using the London transport network and beyond.
Follow the festive trail to travel Christmases past
Daily from November 29 to January 4 2026 (excl. December 24-26)
Gather up the family and make your way down the festive trail through the Museum’s various galleries and explore over 200 years of seasonally stunning stories. From nostalgic steam trains to historic Victorian carriages, you’ll discover exactly how Londoners once travelled during their holiday season. What a slice of history to uncover!
Experience a festive live musical performance
On selected dates: November 27 and December 5, 12 and 19
Need a little Christmas music to get in the spirit? Visit London Transport Museum on November 27 (or the first three Fridays of December) to experience the magic of music. With young musicians from leading music schools participating as part of the Museum’s Transported by Culture initiative, these performances are set to be epic – with a stunning gallery backdrop, of course.
