This traveling festival returns to London for 2014 to screen some of the world’s best mountain-themed short films. The exhilarating adventures embraced by the global mountain sports community include climbing, alpinism, mountain biking, adventure travel, skiing and kayaking.
Two activities included this year for the first time are surfing and wingsuit flying. The programme includes a screening of ‘Heaven’s Gate’ in which a group of wingsuit pilots gather at China’s Tianmen Mountain, the birthplace of the dream of human flight, to attempt a pass through the sacred site known as Heaven’s Gate, an archway carved out of the mountain. ‘High Tension’ takes a look at the 2013 incident at Everest Camp II that saw flying fists, obscenities and death threats at 23,000 feet when a dispute broke out between three western climbers and a group of 100 Sherpas.
