Bard’s Yard

The Spitalfields Crypt Trust have been busy over the last few months working with local homeless people and those recovering from addictions to create a small oasis in the heart of Shoreditch. Inspired by Shakespeare himself, the students have created a garden complete with mosaic stepping stones, apple and plum trees, wild flowers, herbs, benches and a wishing well. Actor, Timothy West will officially open the garden in the grounds St Leonard's Church with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 2pm, followed by a cake competition at 2.30pm and 'The Bard's Beard Contest' at 3.30pm. Other highlights include pop-up choirs, face painting, summery lemonade, pingpong and the chance to meet local Pearly Kings and Queens.
