Copacabana Southbank

Fling your towel down on the South Bank this summer with Cabana's tribute to Rio's most famous beach. Eighty-five tonnes of white sand, a Brasilian barbecue in a yellow tram and a caiprinha will have you feeling totally tropical even if Rio 2016 disappoints.

"At the Copa (Co), Copacabana (Copacabana)"

This beach is less Rio, more London city trying to make a statement. But that doesn't stop it being any less enjoyable!

We went on a Saturday afternoon, when it was baking hot, so you can imagine how busy it was! From one end to the other, it was lined with people, dipping their feet in and kids building sandcastles!

Although the beach is usually a summer feature of the Southbank, this year Cabana, the Brazilian restaurant chain, has taken it over as an ode to the Rio Olympics! Complete with a street food van and Caipirinha cocktail bar, this is a real treat for Southbank goers.

It's also a great way to try out the food form Cabana. In particular, the cod fritters with their special Malagueta sauce were delicious! Not to mention their famous Nutella Doughnuts! Amazingly good!

This little sandbox, along with its food and drink, whilst it may not be a great tourist attraction, is definitely an enjoyable experience...providing the weather is right of course! Well done Cabana!

Food is delicious, we had the spicy chicken with sweet potato and fresh coconut water served straight from the shell! Will be going back before the summer is up to try the caipirnhas!!

Just spent a great evening here. Sunshine, cocktails and one of the best views in London. #happydays

mmm, food hear was so good! Spicy chicken thingy was amazing the food truck looked really cool. Didn't have any cocktails but will be back soon to try the mojitos.

Lovely pop up!  Great on a sunny day. Looking forward to going back again when the weather warms up. Amazing food, I had the spicy malagueta chicken and sweet potato fries. Great Caipirinhas at the bar area too. Fun for a chilled few drinks after work, and fab for kids because there is a massive sand pit. Worth a visit.

Ditto, really annoying actually as you might feel like your kinda going to an event, something cool or special. Its a 25ft x 12ft sandbox with a yellow van selling brazilian food next to it and a pop up bar. Food was nice and drinks ok, but we ventured out to see it and its like getting ready and travelling across town to see a pizzaexpress, its ok, but really not seeing or making any effort for. Timeout really need to explain fully what there is to expect before people waste time getting there.....

We ended up at Underbelly, the big purple cow thing, which got alot busier and fun in the evening. It was much more fun there thank god.
