Think differently about attitudes towards difference. Join actor and performance artist Mat Fraser for a journey through the history of disability. Mat devised the act after sifting through objects, medical specimens, photographs and papers held in the collections of the Hunterian museum, the Royal college of Surgeons, the Royal College of Physicians and the Science Museum. The act uses those objects and their histories to explore the part that advances and developments in the medical profession have historically played in shaping our present day perceptions of disability. After performing his blend of drama, comedy and cabaret, film and music hall pastiche Mat will be joined by Lyn Gardner, Guardian journalist and Emma Shepley, Curator at the Royal College of Physicians for a discussion hosted by the chief executive of SHAPE, Tony Heaton OBE.
