London is home to many, many beloved pubs, all bringing their own kind of charm to their drinking establishments. However, any seasoned pub-goer will tell you that there’s something special about Irish watering holes. The craic, the traditional music and performances, and of course, the hearty Irish stout. For Londoners who can’t easily pop over to Dublin to sample that classic Irish hospitality, thankfully our friends at Nancy Spains have brought it to the English capital by the bucketload. And this November, they’re cranking things up a notch with an exciting new competition.

Named after the first Irish woman to become the landlady of a London pub, Nancy Spains is all about celebrating Irish heritage, connecting with their community living in London and serving up cold pints of Murphy’s Irish Stout. And for any of those community members who are also named ‘Murphy’, well, you’re in for a treat. On Saturday, November 1, Nancy Spains is calling all Murphys (first or last name), to its pub in Monument. The goal? To welcome as many people called Murphy to the pub in one day. Prove it with some photo ID and you’ll get a free pint of Murphy’s. But it doesn’t end there.

The real competition is a guessing game, which is available for anyone to enter (regardless of whether or not your name is Murphy). You’ve got to try and guess how many Murphys turned up to Nancy Spains in Monument on November 1. What will you win, we hear you ask? Naturally, the prize is a trip to Cork in Ireland, with return flights and two nights’ accommodation in a four-star hotel to boot, plus a Murphys brewery tour for two.

Whether you’re a Murphy after a free pint, a free trip back home, meeting other Murphys or just soaking up Nancy Spain’s good craic, you know where you need to be on Saturday, November 1. Go n-éirí leat!
