After major successes in Amsterdam and Barcelona, we expected big things from Moco Museum’s third opening in 2024 – gracing London’s Marble Arch with the biggest names in modern and contemporary art, and digital immersive installations you wouldn’t likely get the chance to see anywhere else.
The city’s been loving this multi-sensory playground, bumping up Moco’s total visitor count across the three sites to a cool six million. And that includes a fair few celebs – if you’ve ever wondered what Barack Obama and Adele get up to in their spare time, now you know. So, to thank London for its warm reception, the museum will be celebrating its one-year anniversary with an epic offer this August: all Londoners can buy one ticket and get a year-long membership for free.
That’s right, you can visit Moco Museum, in London but also in Amsterdam and Barcelona, as many times as you like throughout the year, and all you need to do is buy a standard £25 entry ticket. Prepare to take things slow as you explore the three floors, knowing you can always drop by another time to see anything you might have missed. And given how much is there, you might not catch it all.
The expansive space brings together the biggest names in modern and contemporary art under one roof, from the socially relevant works of Banksy to Damien Hirst’s abstract creations and a breathtaking wall-to-wall display from Takashi Murakami. You’ll also come across the unexpected, whether that’s an NFT collection or a mini exhibition by pop icon Robbie Williams, showcasing his journey as a fine artist of nearly two decades.
Expect nothing less than a visual rollercoaster, and that’s before you’ve even reached the interactive displays on the lower ground floor. The subterranean portion of the museum is where innovation and art combine in the form of giant sculptures, light rooms and a full-size Lunar Garden by Daniel Arsham, inspired by traditional Japanese rock gardens, known as a space for deep contemplation and philosophical pondering.
You can have unlimited access to all this and more by booking a ticket this August; it’s a one-off chance to really make the most of everything this cutting-edge space has to offer. Our advice? Refrain from taking any pictures on your first visit, that way you can really take it all in with the peace of mind of a guaranteed photo op-focussed second visit – if showing off your cultural side on social media is a priority for you.
