Hey, we all know ice cream’s great – but a scientist in Rome has just made it even greater. Valerio Sanguigni, a researcher at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, has done the unthinkable and created a gelato that’s actually good for you. Made from a unique blend of antioxidant-rich ingredients, the creation, called Powellnux, has been developed in chocolate, hazelnut and green tea flavours in collaboration with a Roman gelateria. In trials, it was proven to actually enhance athletic performance by increasing vascular function – and it could even potentially help protect the body from cardiovascular diseases. Since being announced in an academic journal last summer, plans are now in place to release Powellnux on general sale. Whatever’s next – medicinal Mars Bars?
