A look at the often eccentric contributions to literature and the life of the Square Mile made by writers good, bad and appalling. There's an option of going on a guided walk after the talk (meeting point: Guildhall Yard. 3.15pm; Cost: £7) to include the place where Mr Pickwick stood trial and where a modern novelist vowed to spend £20,000 on booze.
