Dr Lindsey Fitzharris, a medical historian and Oxford graduate, presents the macarbe history of the surgeon, or 'chirurgeon', as they were called in the eighteenth century. The night will begin with a medieval cocktail, followed by demonstrations in bloodletting via leeches and tying nooses. If you can stomach that lot, then there'll be a candlelit, three-course meal awaiting you in the upstairs dining room, with medical curios on each table that Fitzharris will come round and explain.
