From food and fashion to drink and design, the capital is brimming with experiences of every kind this summer, but some stand out from the crowd. And such is the case with Dacia’s City Escape, a two-day event that’s appearing at Bernie Spain Gardens on the South Bank from July 23-24.

Celebrating the authentic outdoor spirit of Dacia, the automotive icon synonymous with providing modern, reliable and affordable cars to everyone, the experience will give Londoners the chance to embrace the tranquility of the great outdoors – without leaving the city.

There’ll be plenty to see and do for the whole family during the summer holidays, with Dacia’s range of cars taking pride of place, of course. Unveiled for the first time in the UK will be the highly-anticipated Dacia Striker – a high-performance hybrid launching in 2027 with a distinctive aerodynamic design – while the Duster, Bigster, Sandero Stepway and Jogger will also be showcased over the two days.

Stop by the central Yurt, a tent made from fabric and wood that combines the nomadic styles in far-flung countries with a touch of modern-day glamping. Over the two days, Dacia’s Everyday Adventure Sessions will take place in the Yurt. Covering all things outdoorsy and nature, Dacia will offer no less than 10 sessions including some very special celebrity guests such as broadcaster and explorer Monty Halls, comedian and avid birder Jim Moir, endurance cyclist Sarah Ruggins and singer-songwriter and outdoor-lover Lucy Spraggan.

Elsewhere, a pair of bell tents will provide somewhere for both adults and kids to relax and entertain. With comfortable lounge seating, great coffee and a cutting-edge virtual reality experience for soaking up sweeping panoramas of mountain views and beauty spots, one is for the grown-ups; while the other is for the kids and will play host to activities such as treasure-hunting and map-reading, which are sure to keep them busy.

For those who want to get behind the wheel – at least, in miniature format – there’ll also be remote-controlled mini Sandriders inspired by the purpose-built rally raid race car to tear around a custom-built sand track. In celebration of Dacia’s success in the Dakar Rally, arguably the world’s toughest off-road motorsport event, adults and children can battle it out for a chance to win their very own remote-controlled Sandrider to take home with them afterwards. The Top Gear-style leaderboard is sure to stoke competitive spirits!

With something for everyone – adventurer, family or car fan – Dacia’s City Escape is a chance to go away without getting away. We, for one, are here for it.
