Emergency Exits is the IWM museum’s first-ever exhibition on the wave of independence movements against British rule that followed World War II. Exploring the conflicts fought in Malaysia (then Malaya), Kenya and Cyprus, Emergency Exits will remember the brutal and lasting impact on those involved, tell the stories of individuals who fought for independence, and highlight how WWII paved the way for battles to be fought for freedom from British imperial rule.
