The Glasgow Science Centre itself is an airport terminal-like structure housing a wide range of exhibits and visiting shows, but make sure you also check out both the Tower – which offers spectacular city views and rotates in the wind – and Scotland’s biggest IMAX screen.

It’s a two-hour drive from Glasgow to the nearest natural ski resort, and even there the snow isn’t massively reliable, so satisfy your craving for powder here at the UK’s longest indoor real-snow slope instead.
