If you want a steer on the plot and vibe of one of the season’s most rated new series, all you need to know is that GLOW stands for ‘The Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling. Set in ’80s Los Angeles, it’s a fictional account of a true story about a female wrestling franchise from the time. Big hair, bad hair, ’80s looks and a great cast including Alison Brie (’Mad Men’, ‘Community’) all play their part in a smart and unconventional romp.

Friends from College

Friends from College available on Netflix July 14

Have you reached that point yet where you somewhat recklessly decide to organise a college reunion and you wonder what on earth threw you oddballs all together in the first place? Well, you’ll love this brand new comedy. A group of former Harvard chums are staring down the barrel of middle age when the unresolved issues and complicated emotions of uni days begin to resurface, revealing just how little they’ve grown-up in the meantime.

Ozark

Ozark

Ozark available on Netflix July 21

July’s major new début is a crime thriller tipped to be the new ‘Breaking Bad’. Jason Bateman plays a financial advisor who has to secretly relocate his family to the middle of nowhere (well, the Ozark mountains in Missouri) when his dealings with a Chicago drug cartel turn ugly. Expect a tense but exquisitely captured drama from Bill Dubuque and Mark Williams.

Orange Is the New Black

It opens with Daya still pointing the gun at the sadistic prison guard Humphrey and through the 13 episodes, we continue to get to know these fascinating characters.

House of Cards

All episodes of House of Cards available now on Netflix

As real-life politics opts for the ridiculous, it’s left to the fifth series of ‘House of Cards’ to go for the sublime. Kevin Spacey is so watchable as the ruthless Frank Underwood, and as his wife Claire (Robin Wright) moves up to help him sustain power, the intrigues of Presidency seem less extreme (especially given 2017 reality) compared to what Frank seems to be planning next...
