Explore Richmond Park in the dark for a thorough spooking this Halloween. Meet your horse-drawn carriage at Roehampton Gate and embark on an hour-long tour, during which your guide will tell you all about the history of the park, the ghosts that haunt the grounds and a Victorian murder that was only solved in 2010. Tucked up under blankets with a glass of sloe gin in hand (both included with your ticket), guests will also hear all about the gnarled Shrew Ash, an ancient tree that was once thought to cure ailments with the help of a congregation of witches.

As the park gates are locked to vehicles at dusk it is very special to then climb aboard the horse drawn tram, having first met the giant shire horses who will take you on the tour of Richmond Park. As the harness creaks and night falls you may be lucky enough to see a giant pumpkin moon rising over London, framed by the pitch black of the park. The view opens up to St Paul's and beyond and as the rutting stags bellow across the unlit park it is easy to believe you have been transported back in time.
We went one magical night a couple of years ago - the attendants have torches to catch glimpses of the wildlife and just on the very edge of the light perhaps we saw a ghoullie or a ghostie ... it was all quite magical
I had a ride 2 years ago at Halloween and remember it vividly. The park at night is amazing, being transported through it by two giant shires horses is a rare treat. The sound of their hooves in the quiet night at halloween is actually quite spooky! Its fundraising for a good cause too... am planning to take my children too this year.
Watching bats over the lake, listening to stags, and seeing the shapes of veteran trees, darker against the inky sky. It was very atmospheric!
Just booked! My kids loved it so much last year we had to come back! Richmond Park is amazing any time, but at night and without traffic it's really special.
I really enjoyed this ride last year and can't wait to go again. Seeing the bright city from the darkness and eeriness of the park when there was not another soul around was an amazing experience and one I'll treasure. The way the stags bellowed in the darkness was like something out of a Stephen Speilberg film (and the pre tour gin helped tool!) thanks to the entire team for some memories that will stay with me forever.
