How to spend the money you’re going to save by visiting Disneyland Paris out of peak season

If you can swing a trip to Disneyland Paris during the week and outside of school holidays, you’ll save big (and skip the queues!). Here’s how to maximise that extra cash while you’re there

We didn’t think it was possible, but there is a way that you can make your trip to Disneyland Paris even more magical. No, it doesn’t involve coming dressed as Elsa and hurling ice blocks at your fellow Disney fans while belting ‘Let it Go’. It’s much simpler than that: all you need to do is book your adventure to Disneyland Paris during off-peak times.

Yep, that’s right: if you don’t have school-aged children, then it makes perfect sense to book your trip before the school holidays start or during the week. Fewer people at the park means that there's likely going to be shorter queues (another spin on Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain, anyone?), better views at the famous Disney Illuminations fireworks extravaganza over Sleeping Beauty Castle and superior spots at shows including the dazzling Mickey and the Magician.

But that’s not all. Tickets to the park are cheaper than in peak times, as is accommodation at all the Disney hotels.

Packing your bags already? Here's some more insider info. By purchasing a Multiday Experience+ Ticket, you can save on park entry, plus dining and shopping. You’ve got to book before August 29, 2019 to take advantage of this sweet deal, which starts at £183.82 for two days. For more info, scroll to the bottom of this article.

With that extra cash in your pocket, there are heaps of exciting add-ons to your Disneyland Paris experience on offer. We’ve picked out some of our favourites.

1. Dine with a Disney character

You’re never too old to tuck into a pizza with Mickey. There are loads of Disney character encounters to be had, including a luxe buffet breakfast with Disney characters at Plaza Gardens on Main Street U.S.A. Prices will depend on which restaurant you choose, of course.

2. Be swept up in a spectacular seasonal event

Did you know that Disneyland Paris launches brand new themed events and experiences each season? The summer, they’re bringing the savannah and the jungle to Paris, with The Lion King and Jungle Festival. That’s right: two of your favourite Disney stories will come together from June 30-September 22, with a huge stage show (prepare to shed a happy tear or two during ‘Circle of Life’), an African-inspired village, a dance class with Timon and Pumbaa, and lots more. You can take things to the next level with The Lion King Signature Experience, which will guarantee you the best seats in the house for ‘The Lion King, Rhythms of the Pride Lands’ show, a private encounter with Minnie, lunch with Rafiki and Mickey, a gift card and more.

3. Shop in the Disney Village

Trust us: these ain’t your usual merch shops. The Disney Village is a sparkling, buzzing precinct open until late and packed with fun shops; plus there are gorgeous themed shops spread throughout Disneyland Paris. Pick up French sweets and Art Deco-style artworks at the Ratatouille-themed Chez Marianne; buy someone special an engraved retro Disney keepsake at Disneyana Collectibles or find a stocking filler at La Boutique du Château, which is Christmas-themed all year-round.
