The Queen's Gallery exhibition for summer 2013 is inspired by the sumptuous costume of British monarchs and their court during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries as seen in portraits in the Royal Collection. The show looks at how, during this period, fashion was central to court life as well as being an important way to display social status. Included are paintings by Hans Holbein the Younger, Nicholas Hilliard, Van Dyck and Peter Lely, drawings, garments, jewellery, accessories and armour. Last entry is 4.30pm daily.
