As the popularity of chessboxing – that's the mind- and body-challenging combination of speed chess and boxing – gathers pace, the London Chessboxing and World Chessboxing associations presents another showdown. Sergio 'The Phoenix' Leveque (Italy) is set to take on Mark 'The Hammer' Pilkington (England) in the first bout of an eight-man World Heavyweight title elimination. Sergio's stats are impressive: a former professional boxer, he's also a Candidate Master level chess player. Mark, meanwhile, is a good match: a MMA fighter and martial arts instructor, he was also a former school chess champion. The rest of the bill includes a middleweight world title eliminator. The Daily Telegraph's chess correspondent will provide live commentary and live cabaret and DJs will entertain during the intervals.
