Time Out Says

Christmas is good isn't it, good time for shopping, doing things with mates, feeling all cosy and celebratory. As far as buzzing hubs of activity go, King's Cross is high up London's list and Coal Drops Yard is right at the heart of it.

This year there's loads to do there over the festive season, from eating and drinking to shopping – yeah there's loads of choice all year round, but for Christmas they've brought even more to the yard. Here's a taster.

Club Curling

This winter the sport of curling - the one you watch on telly during the Olympics and find curiously engaging - is coming to London, all over London actually, but Coal Drops has a rinks all over its quarteres, more than you could sweep a stick at. It's open every day of the week from noon until 8pm, but booking is encouraged or you might find yourself waiting for a lane to open up. Everyone who has played 'chess on ice' as it's known, leaves with an extra bit of love for it. Why not have a go yourself.

Christmas Canopy Market

Here's your quintessential Christmas Market done the King's Cross way this season. Nice fairy lights, mulled wine, festive produce, independent designers and makers of lovely things, a craft beer bar. It's all going on. This kicks off on November 26 and runs all the way through to Christmas Eve (might be a shout for last minute gifts, actually). It'll be open from noon to 6pm daily, except Mondays and it closes at 8pm on Fridays. There's the one-off Monday opening on December 20 too.

Independent Label Christmas Market

Here's one for the wax-listeners in your life. The Independent Label Market are hooking up with the Craft Brewers Market for a Chrstimas vinyl and beer fair. Talk about a meeting of all interests! It's running on November 27, there'll be DJ sets, top beer, and some serious records to collect. Free entry.
