Two professional ice sculpting competitions to watch, plus the opportunity to take part in a free ice-carving masterclass (first come, first served, sessions on the hour, 20 minutes and 40 minutes past, age 12+), make a snowman in the snow pit (first come, first served) and browse the stalls at the frost fayre for warming winter drinks and snacks. The main competition sees international teams battle it out on 2m high blocks of ice, interpreting the theme of ' Winter Sports'. After the main competition, one member of each team will take on a speed sculpting challenge on the theme of 'Team Spirit'. The creations take life throughout the festival, with the winner announced on Saturday at 4pm. Visit for more information.

Sounded better than it was. Hard to see the sculpting as they were all close together and not elevated enough, the crowd wasn't moving to let others see. Snow pit was very small and I think doubling the size would have made it better ( and possibly allowed adults to have a go as well).

5 ice sculptures does not make a festival. The snow tent was a gazebo with compacted snow at the bottom and n official watching the children making everyone feel uncomfortable. Waste of time, all PR and no substance.

This really was a huge disaappointment! How on earth it was deemed to be a 'festival' I'll never know!
