Even if the topic isn't rocket science many of us still find it hard work to get to grips with a maths lecture. Each year the LMS chooses two lectures who combine mathematical distinction with brilliant communication skills to give a free public talk. This year the speakers are professor Martin Hairer and Dr Ruth King who will give presentations about the mathematics of randomness and estimating population sizes respectively.
