In 1826, Sir Stamford Raffles and Sir Humphry Davy founded the Zoological Society of London (ZSL) with a mission to help save the world’s most vulnerable animals. Two hundred years later, the ethos stays the same, but the zoo has changed dramatically, transforming into a huge 36-acre conservation site, ensuring animal welfare. Celebrate the world’s oldest scientific zoo at this early May bank holiday bash, which will transform the zoo into a massive street party.
Head along to play classic games with a zoo twist, including Hook a Flamingo and Animal Tail Tag, join animal-themed arts and crafts workshops, letting little ones design a conservation zoo. There’ll also be everything from birthday cake and a summer BBQ to jelly and ice-cream stations to fuel up on, as well as plenty of chances to discover more about the vital work the zoo does.
