Kids adore the limitless possibilities that space travel opens up. Let their imaginations take flight and head for the final frontier. Best of all, achieving this look really isn’t rocket science… So take a look at the video below and get ready to take your paintbrush to infinity and beyond. Or download the step-by-step guide right here.

See? Space rooms are beyond brilliant. Just think of the fun your kids will have as they pretend to be astronauts aboard a rocket ship hurtling toward the stars, leaping from the bed and landing with all the delicacy of a moon buggy bouncing over the landscape. The printable Dulux Workbook can help them create that dream bedroom. This can be downloaded here. Might be best to just turn the television up. Or take a look at the list below and keep their stellar minds both inspired and busy with these space adventures?

Space inspiration in London

The Science Museum’s permanent ‘Exploring Space’ gallery is crammed with interstellar treasures, including a full-sized replica of the Eagle lander which took Armstrong, Aldrin and co to the moon. That, plus two real-life rockets suspended from the ceiling (Britain’s ‘Black Arrow’ and the American ‘Scout’) guarantee a truly out of this world experience.

Royal Observatory
Go starry-eyed at London’s only remaining planetarium, cunningly aligned with the celestial equator and near enough bang on the prime meridian. The nearby Weller Astronomy Galleries are free entry, and contain (amazingly) a 4.5 billion year old meteorite. In short: it rocks.

Star Wars at Madame Tussaud’s
This photogenic exhibit at the venerable waxwork museum allows diehard fans to perch alongside Chewbacca in the Millennium Falcon cockpit, practice lightsaber tricks with Yoda and kick back in the cantina with Han Solo. Foxy princess Leia is present and correct, fear not middle-aged dads. It’s a trap (in a good way).
