Derelict for 15 years, Netil House in the heart of the east end has been transformed in less than two to become a hub of creativity. On May 5 around 100 workspaces open their doors to give the public an insight into the varied activities going on in this exciting studio complex, where the residents include (deep breath) fashion designers, stylists, acrobats, artists, photographers, furniture designers, musicians, shoemakers, textile designers, vintage clothing dealers, graphic designers, a picture framer, a pilates studio, jewellery designers, illustrators, printmakers, web designers, branding consultants, creative companies, laser cutters and a tattoo parlour. Among the highlights of the event, sponsored by Becks, are a sample sale from Dynasty Jewellery, a village fete, a pop-up nail bar and the Miss Jacqueline White Rude T-shirt making workshop. During the evening Alpha-ville Festival presents Circle Traps live, there's a DJ set from My Panda Shall Fly and a short film programme features new talents working across genres including animation, experimental video and CGI. The fun continues into the night at a warehouse party with DJs New Young Pony Club, Age of Consent (ex Shitdisco), Mr Markus Wilson, and To the Lazercave.
