Photoion Photography School, press 2018

If you're longing to be able to take the sort of photographs that make your muddy walking holiday in Devon look like a spread from Country Living, a course at Photoion may be just the ticket. Their courses are run by professional photographers and all equipment is provided free of charge, though students are welcome to use their own cameras, too. Classes are small, and focus on a particular skill level or specialism – choose from food photography, street photography, fashion photography and many more.

I am stunned by Kate M's vindictive review for Photoion Photography School. I have attended many courses at the school and plan to attend as many as I can in the future.  I must point out that I am a Londoner but I live in Rome, Italy.  I have travelled to London solely to attend courses at the school or have planned my travel to coincide with a course, which is a clear indication of how I feel about the tuition.  Ion is completely professional and knows his stuff and has his own particular zany style of imparting his vast knowledge.  He is there to show you the basic and advanced techniques and to guide you on to your own particular style. Take what you learn from him and do your own thing.  I feel it is unfair to try to discredit the school and the owner.

I attended for the first time to Photoion Photography School a couple of years ago and since have received feed back on regular basis and have keep on learning ever since.

When I attended the Advance Photography course I had some understanding on using my camera. But what I learned from Ion was to understand light and how to work with it no matter the equipment you have!

I then attended the portrait workshop and in a few hours completely understand and achieved amazing portraits, learned to handled the person and how to make the most of natural light!

When you attend this school you gain the chance to belong to an amazing community with continuous feed back that helps your photography grow. Also you can enter competitions to win even more courses. ( I have won already and Im just waiting my next trip to London to take a course!)

It’s up to you and tour commitment to improve your photography listening to all the feed back you get!

My photography has grown so much that now I’m starting my own photography business and it’s all thanks to Photoion Photography School passion to teaching! Truly the best Photography School!

I attended Night Photography workshop with Ion a year ago not knowing what to expect, as this was my first photography workshop. I spread my wings in the world of photography 2 years ago and knew most of the theoretical stuff but never tried anything practical.

I grew substantially with every workshop I attended, thanks to Ion; because of him I started seeing Light since my ‘Advanced Photography Workshop’ - I know this sounds strange only true photo fanatics would understand what I am talking about. Ion is an addictive, enthusiastic, and motivating tutor. Looking through the viewfinder changed the way I glance at the world around me, learning from Ion taught me to think before clicking the shutter.

Choosing to take workshops with Photoion School ensured I am emerging and learning new things; Ion pushes to come out of my comfort zone and try something new, different. This is the best way to start you journey.

The main reason I chose this school at the very beginning was the tremendous amount of good reviews it had on TripAdvisor. I signed up for the beginners course, and I don't think I could have found a better experience. Ion is a fantastic teacher, thanks to him my enthusiasm for photography grew even more, especially when seeing the results - I was more confident with my camera and my photos started improving rapidly. I signed up for a few more courses afterwards, and I am definitely going to do a few more in the future. Thanks to his continuous support on facebook I can always ask his advice or share my photos with him for a review.

The Photoion School is a bit like a big family, always supporting each other and giving advice when needed. I was lucky enough to meet lots of fellow photographers on one of the social gatherings Ion organised where we could share our experiences, and ideas.

Me and all my family went for a holiday together in September, and I was incredibly proud of the pictures I took. Given the fact that this was our last family holiday together, it makes me feel very happy that I could capture the best moments and create long lasting memories for everyone. This would have never been possible without Ion, so Ion, I would like to say a huge thank you to you and the Photoion school for all your help and advice along the way.

Some time ago I signed up for the long term photography course with Photoion, having done a fair amount of research on available courses. Right from the outset I knew that I had chosen well. Not only did I get an understanding of the basic concepts quickly but with the infectious enthusiasm of the course tutor I was hooked on photography. I completed the course over a year, but it didn't stop there. As a Photoion student there is ongoing support and access to a very friendly community of like minded enthusiasts (with regular facilitated get togethers). I couldn't recommend this photography school highly enough.

I wanted to come on here and share my experience of professional photography lessons with Photoion. I have successfully completed the beginners and food photography courses in 2018 and intend to get more classes booked for early 2019. The tutor, Ion is incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, passionate and accommodating. I have learned so much in a small space of time. His teaching style is very comprehensive yet it is clear that he has excellent technical ability. Whenever I had any questions he answered them or demonstrated the answer so that I understood.

I went out with a friend of mine, to Kew Gardens - we took our cameras and she started asking me questions about how to improve her images. I was amazed that I was able to help her adjust her settings based on what I had learned at Photoion.

Ion puts in a lot of effort into his classes so you know that you are getting excellent value for money. The school is also great at recommending equipment, which I have taken full advantage of.

The studio is beautiful, clean and professional and I can’t wait to book my advanced photography course with them!

Well , after doing a careful research on beginner photography courses, luckily i found Photoion Photography School. I was so nervous, as i had no idea at all how to use my camera unless everything in auto setting. Thanks to Ion Paciou very soon i felt comfortable at the course. He opened my eyes about photography that it is a real art, that anything can make an interesting, outstanding photograph. He is an amazing photographer , but he explained his pictures are like that after taking them for many years. He always says that our improvement is completely down to us, how much we play with settings, light, subjects and practice, practice, practice. Last, but not least unlimited after course support is offered, it means you can upload your pictures and every single time Ion write an extremely helpful, honest review which helps a lot with your photos afterward . If you are looking for a passionate photography school with a caring and highly skilled team, do not hesitate to choose Photoion Photography School!!

I first went to Photoion for an advanced course and later went onto rebook four other course. The courses I then attended were; Food photography, Product photography, Wedding photography and Speedlight photography.

I was inspired by the tutors enthusiasm and engaging style of teaching. He was very supportive and offered helpful tips throughout the day and also after the course via the schools Facebook page where fellow students and the tutor can converse and continue to be inspired by one another.

I have not only gained new knowledge but, have also made a few new photography friends which is a bonus.

I look forward to the next few course that I will attend in the new year.

I attended the Beginners Course in September and I absolutely loved it. I have never attended a photography class before, and it was something I was thinking to do for a while. The course was a great balance of theory and practice, filled with useful tips and strived to challenge us to see a different perspective. Since then I attended Advanced Course, and am planning to take further courses as I progress in practicing, which Ion highly encourages and keeps tracking! I am very happy I chose Photoion School and feel lucky I met Ion as my teacher. His passion for photography and never ending curiosity to challenge his skill is contagious! Ion, thank you very much for making me feel inspired!

All I can say about Ion is that he's a dedicated teacher. With him I started to see the light differently (closer to what a camera can see). I started using my camera more and more, and now I get some nice shots. Thanks to him, now I can call myself a photographer not a snapshot guy.I highly recommend you to join at least one course with him. You will see everything from another perspective.

I attended the advanced photography course and I really enjoyed the course. Ion is very passionate teacher & photographer. He took time to find out everyone's expectations, goals and objectives. He made sure to cover the things we wanted to learn along  side with the training course agenda. He inspired me to push myself to experiment more and practice, practice, practice!!!! Thank you Ion!

I have done quite a few courses with Ion, if not all (Beginners and Advanced, Portrait, Studio, Speedlight, Food, Product, Levitation, Wildlife, Nude, Macro, Night, Post Production-Photoshop)! Both Ion and Tatiana (owners of Photoion Photography School) are not only great and friendly people but also great photographers! Ion has a unique style of teaching and besides his talents, he has aspired and created many good photographers. He is more eager to touch and pass down his knowledge because he wants to see us and you become a great photographer! He is focusing on certain elements per workshop, which is just the right amount of knowledge that one require to progress. He has been photographing and teaching for years and it will be a shame to let that experience go away! Take the opportunity and learn from him, always practice! I, myself I am guilty for the latter due to the lack of free time but his patience and advice are always there to help, even after the courses.

I would highly recommend his courses and his school! Do take advantage on what he has to offer and learn from his school! Ion offers the knowledge, motivation and experience you need to start taking good photos, is up to me and you to make those photos epic! And he will be there all the way to make sure of that.. because as B. Franklin one said...

Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.

I have been on 4 courses with Photoion. Beginners, portrait, Speedlight and Corporate workshop. I just love the way they teach and Ion is an inspirational leader, a passionate photographer and a great teacher, Who encourage the students to keep the camera and practice all the time as that is the best way to improve skills.

I thoroughly recommend Photoion to learn about photography.

I have attended couple of workshops with Photoion photography school and i really enjoyed them all. Every single one of them was loaded with very useful information and tips and perfectly tailored to the subject. The teacher is very passionate and always more than happy to help and answer all the questions regarding the photography and equipment. Students can always get the feedback about their photography. I really like the atmosphere in the school, there are regular meet ups, social events and competitions. I would highly recommend this school to everyone who wants to improve or develop their skills as well as those who just beginning their photography journey!

I was a complete beginner when I first met Ion Paciu from Photoion Photography School, like many people I only used the Auto settings, but I really wanted to learn how to use the camera to its full potential.

Well I have to tell you, after the Beginner’s Course at this school there was no way I was ever going back to Auto. I learnt so much in a short time and have since done the Advanced Course and many more workshops including Portrait, Speedlight, Wildlife, Night Photography and Portrait Street Photography.

One thing about this school is that the workshops are such fun, the tutor makes the learning easy and he spends time with each of us ensuring that we have the understanding. There are small groups of likeminded people and we all come away having been inspired.

The tutor is very passionate about his teaching and he truly wants his students to learn from his vast knowledge and experience.

Also after the first workshop the school offers unlimited feedback on your images, and I can’t tell you how important that is, I have learnt so much from sharing my images with the school and the best thing is the feedback is free. How amazing is that.

I highly recommend Photoion Photography School.

My experience with Photoion photography school has been 100 percent positive. I’ve gone from knowing very little with regards to the technical side to knowing my way around the camera with confidence. But more importantly Ion has shown me how to take stunning images by using simple techniques, patience and of course good light. You need to look no further than his Facebook page to see what I’m talking about. Every day he posts pictures by his students and they are awesome. I’m forever impressed by his passion for photography and all the work he puts into teaching. My photography has gone from strength to strength after being taught by Ion. Important: please do not trust the overall Tripadvisor review of this school. I have had to repost the below several times because the owners repeatedly “report” negative reviews, knowing that people can’t be bothered to repost. However, I will keep doing so, and will add it to more platforms the more that it’s deleted.

I went to the beginners’ 2-day course at Photoion because I wanted a refresher of the basics of photography, after having done an adult education course a few years ago.

It soon became clear that the teacher was a fairly good photographer, but had limited understanding of the underlying fundamentals of photography, and that he had limited interest in teaching, preferring instead to show off about his own work.

Instead of teaching the students how to work in manual mode, he was arguing that everyone would be better to work in aperture mode and did not fully explain why. Since it was a group of beginners, everyone was forced to accept this setting with no understanding as to why this was used and when it would be appropriate to use it, and when not to (his answer was that it was always better..!).

He treated “exposure” as a setting on the camera, despite it being an outcome, not an input, which is what indicated to me that he didn’t fully understand how the camera worked.

Moreover, almost every time someone wanted to show him their progress, he quickly brought up one of his photos to show how he’d done it better, which wasn’t very conducive to learning and improvement. Questions were discouraged and dismissed, and there seemed no attempt to adjust for different styles of learning.

On the second day of the course, one of the group didn’t turn up; I suspect this was likely due to the teaching. Most worryingly, and importantly, processing the Tripadvisor reviews through a tool to assess the legitimacy of reviews, it seems that many of these reviews could be false. This is further substantiated by my experience having to repost my negative reviews. Since the main reason why I chose this school above others was the reviews, I am concerned that other people have also been attracted by these reviews.

I would only recommend his courses to photographers who would like to recreate the style of his pictures. Anyone more interested in a general grounding in the fundamentals of photography may be better served elsewhere.
