It’s been a whole decade since Pokémon GO came onto the scene and quickly had millions upon millions of people absolutely obsessed, hunting their local parks, shopping centres and high streets for digital creatures. Today it’s estimated that, altogether, users (or ‘trainers’ as the app calls them) have trawled over 100 billion kilometres while playing the game - that’s roughly 334 round trips between the earth and the sun.
Now, Pokémon GO is gearing up to celebrate it’s tenth birthday in venues across the world. In London, the celebrations are being held at Boxpark Shoreditch. Across two weekends, there’ll be exclusive Pokémon GO experiences, in-game rewards, free coffee and prize draws, including the chance to win trips to Japan and tickets to Pokémon GO Fest 2027.
