The road that runs straight (obviously) from Bethnal Green to the southern edge of Hackney Wick will get a jolly makeover for this four-day festival of music, shopping, movies and Christmassy fun. Local shops will open late on the Thursday, offering free drinks and discounts. St Paul's Old Ford will host a Winter Warmer Gig on Friday night (£3). Saturday will involve street performers, discounted shopping, a Santa's Grotto and the Christmas light switch-on (4.30pm). Free festive fun on Sunday includes craft workshops, a fancy dress photobooth, mulled wine, a gift market, street food stalls and plenty of carolling.
