Sex and The City: medicine and sexuality, a history laid bare

This walking tour takes an in-depth look at a historically turbulent relationship. No, not another Mr. Big and Carrie drama, but an examination of medicine and sexology, human sexuality and sexually transmitted diseases in London. 

Punters will join fellow streetwalkers for a look at under the counter exhibits at the museum of the Royal College of Physicians before strolling through notorious North Soho. The walk ends with a visit to the Wellcome Collection’s current exhibition 'The Institute of Sexology'. A long the way walkers will encounter the father of sexology Magnus Hirschfield at the Polish embassy, chat with Sigmund Freud at the BBC, hear how the contraceptive pill gave birth to the swinging sixties, uncover a long forgotten Victorian sex scandal and lean about the innovators whose discoveries lead to liberation for men and women suffering form 'social diseases'.
