For the Swedes, Midsummer is more popular than Christmas. A right, bright knees-up that welcomes the summer in all its sunshining glory, we think it’s about time we embraced the tradition over here, too. Why? Well, it’s always pretty special when the UK gets a break from drizzly, grey days but, most importantly, we’re suckers for an excuse to party. That’s why we’ve teamed up with Swedish drinks brand Rekorderlig to bring you some great Midsummer events so you can plan some Nordic-infused fun. Yep, if you’re looking to have a proper Swedish summer, here’s where you should consider unpacking your shades. And of course we’ve included Rekorder-land – Rekorderlig’s own conceptual popup bar and mixed-reality experience that celebrates the season – it does look pretty cool.

1. Rekorder-land

Until July 13
Rekorderlig’s very own – and free! – Midsummer party is bringing mixed reality to the Underbelly Festival on the South Bank. That means an immersive, multi-sensory experience that will transport you straight to Sweden. Plus there’ll be plenty of beautiful botanical flavours from the Rekorderlig range that you can lap up in the summer sunshine. Use #SeekRekorderland to discover more.

2. Aztec Solstice Sunrise Celebration

June 21
Looking to make the most of your early morning? At this 6am event on the Queen of Hoxton’s rooftop terrace, join Aztec culture group the Atlachinolli for meditation, healing and embracing their ancient culture. Oh, and lots of dancing.

3. Canary Wharf Midsummer Festival

June 21-22
Pop on your flower crown, because this festival is free to attend and looks like it’ll be a banger. There’ll be live music, street food traders and a child-friendly day full of activities to keep your ankle-biters entertained.

4. Swedish Midsummer Brunch

June 22
It’s a fact: Londoners love brunch. And this one, organised by local Swedish community group LondonSwedes, will have you eating up while summer’s in full bloom. Expect a raffle, breathtaking city views and Scandi bites galore.

5. Hilly Fields Midsummer Fayre

June 22
This pretty, green space in south London will be transformed for Midsummer, with arts, music, competitions and a funfair all pitching up. There’ll be plenty of food and drink too, which you can get stuck into by the field’s stone circle, which – sadly – isn’t at all ancient.

6. Midsummer Outdoor Garage Rave

July 6
This one goes out to all the ravers. Yep, if you like a bit of old skool then throw on your Mosch’ and get yourself to Studio 338 in Greenwich for 12 hours of back-to-back garage anthems, courtesy of Summer Solstice London.
