The Covent Garden cluster of studios, cafes and restaurants known as The Yards got a new Irish resident at the end of last year. Now, it reckons it could be London’s unofficial Irish quarter. And you can’t claim that title if you don’t go big for St Patrick’s Day.
Following the arrival of the Guinness Open Gate Brewery, The Yards is hosting its first ever Paddy’s Week. We’re talking a pop-up creating personalised limericks for passersby (March 14) professionally led Irish step dance classes at Pineapple Dance Studios (March 19), offers on emerald isle themed nails at Townhouse and plenty of Ireland inspired drinks from Fairshot, Café Pacifico and the Hawksmoor. Guinness Open Gate Brewery will of course be in on the action, too. On Paddy’s Day itself, the venue will host a festival of up and coming Irish talent and, in the days leading up, has promised an exciting programme of events (though what exactly those events are is still being kept under wraps).
