In the run-up to the demolition of LSE's St Philip's building – an Edwardian block that served as a workhouse, venereal disease
hospital and refugee facility – 20 artists have created new works that engage with the building's history and critical debates about destruction and creativity in the city. The closing event is a screening of Emma-Louise Williams's film, 'Under the Cranes' (2011) and a discussion with Michael Rosen, whose writings accompany the film. Other participants include Tom Hunter, Gus Casely-Hayford, Richard McCormac and Josephine Berry Slater.
