Plenty of us view book-buying and book-reading as two very separate hobbies, but this inaugural Alternative Book Fair at Islington Central Library could be the best way to engage with some new authors, and some new stories. It’s a week of publishing events which showcase aspiring authors and emerging writers and all of them are completely free. Award-winning crime writer Ajay Chowdhury will give a talk on his Kamil Rahman series and his new book ‘The Spy’, but there’ll be plenty of discussion on societal issues and how writing can tackle it, too. Also featured will be the Indie Press Fair, a series of stalls and exhibitions by some of the UK’s most important independent publishers.
