Scotland’s biggest city has a lot going for it. As well as being a hub for arts and culture, it also boasts excellent bars – and we’re here to help you find the very best of those bars, where you can discover the new Schweppes 1783 collection of naturally flavoured, premium mixers.

These mixers honour the pioneering effervescence that Schweppes has been famed for since bubbles began, thanks to Jacob Schweppe – the first person to find a way of capturing and bottling bubbles.

Schweppes all-new naturally flavoured range has been carefully crafted by a team of mixologists, providing the perfect pairing for a host of the finest premium spirits – not just gin.

We’ve handpicked some of the finest bars in Glasgow serving the most inspiring flavour combinations with Schweppes 1783. Get ready to uncover some truly full-on flavours.

Gin71

With a name like that, you’ve got to really know your gin. Thankfully, the expert mixologists at all three cool and classy branches of Gin71 do indeed – so much so that they’ve won awards. And if sipping the good stuff isn’t enough, you can even try out the UK’s first ‘gin-inspired botanical day spa’. Now that’s commitment to gin if we ever saw it. While you’re here, opt for a G&T that goes that extra mile in an unbeatably crisp concoction: Arbikie Kirsty’s Gin served in a blueberry dust-rimmed glass with Schweppes 1783 Crisp Tonic Water and a dash of blueberry and grapefruit G&T sorbet. Finish with a twist of lemon and blueberry garnish.

Mharsanta

Mharsanta

This newcomer doesn’t like to shout too loudly about what it’s doing: serving sophisticated, classic cocktails (from an impressively extensive list) in a relaxing setting. Thankfully, you don’t need to shut when the results are this good. A new, exciting addition to Glasgow’s bar scene deserves a similarly new and exciting cocktail – which is exactly what you’ll get when ordering the following tipple. It’s simple and extraordinarily light – low on frills but absolutely full of flavour: Grey Goose Citron, Chambord and Schweppes 1783 Light Tonic Water. When it’s this refreshing, less really is more.

As you might have guessed, the inspiration for this popular, buzzy bar and restaurant comes straight from over the pond, including the décor, the food and a good few of its cocktails. Sometimes, however, it pays to shake things up a little, which is where Schweppes 1783 steps in, by putting forth a thoroughly British and utterly thirst-quenching mixture: Beefeater 24 Gin and Briottet Rose Liqueur, shaken with elderflower, lemon, fresh mint and raspberry, topped with Schweppes 1783 Cucumber Tonic. Just superb, wherever you are in the world.

It’s just not the done thing to talk about Glasgow bars and not mention whisky. While in the city, there are few better places to sample it than this incredible, historical venue, which features a dedicated whisky bar that’s as full of atmosphere as it is of premium malts. What’s needed here is a suitably classic recipe, given a sharp, satisfying kick from a pleasantly bitter hint of dark chocolate and the perfect premium tonic: Aberfeldy 12-year-old whisky, Schweppes 1783 Ginger Ale, a squeeze of lime and chocolate bitters, served over ice. Clean, cool and classic.

St Luke’s

Bar, restaurant, music venue – this beautiful building is a former church in Glasgow’s East End that was eventually refurbished into one of the city’s most innovative arts spaces, retaining the traditional look of the original church. See for yourself in St Luke’s atmospheric and much-loved bar The Winged Ox, by ordering the following feisty yet smooth combination: white rum with Schweppes 1783 Salty Lemon Tonic Water, lime and coriander syrup, and a wheel of lime to garnish.
