Winter in London can be tough, when the nights are longer and days are chillier, but there's no reason to hide away inside. Especially when The Winter Retreat pops up in Regent's Place Plaza. From Friday November 16 until Christmas Eve, the spot, just off Euston Road by Warren Street station, will be home to a toasty, welcoming festive tipi, complete with an actual roaring fire. From warming drinks to a coat donation drop, The Winter Retreat is a cosy, feelgood place to get in the festive spirit this winter. Here are six of the best things to do there this November and December.

Find out more about The Winter Retreat at www.regentsplace.com/winterretreat.

Board games: not just for Boxing Day. Challenge your mates or your colleagues to a post-work game or two at The Winter Retreat. You'll be building hotels on Park Lane in no time.

2. Indulge in festive food and drink

As the nights draw in, there's nothing we want more than to feast on festive comfort food and warm ourselves with wintery drinks. Luckily, Drake & Morgan will be serving up Christmas cocktails, mulled wine and cider and hot chocolate, while burgers, bratwurst, chilli beef and other warming winter food will be on offer from The Winter Grill on the Plaza.

Test your general knowledge every Wednesday night by taking part in a quiz. They’ll be a different theme each week. Hilarious, pun-heavy team names optional.

4. Listen to live music

Thursday and Friday nights at The Winter Retreat equal live music. Snuggle up in the Live Lounge for performances by the likes of James Frost and other upcoming artists. Musicians will play originals, old favourites and the odd Christmas classic. Winner.

Get crafty

5. Get crafty

Forget fighting your way through the crowds down Oxford Street for your Christmas presents, just pop to The Winter Retreat on Tuesday evenings instead. Join Victoria Hellum of Plantjoy in a macrame plant hanger workshop or learn how to create a seasonal terrarium, perfect for gifts or decorations. Book your spot in advance here

6. Donate warm clothing

Because the winter festivities aren't really about expensive presents and big nights out. Reach out to those in need this winter, by donating coats and warm clothing to the coat rack at The Winter Retreat.
