[title]
Spanish phycisist Juan Parrondo discovered a paradox while building a computer simulation of an effect in quantum theory that's one of new mathematics' most remarkable findings. When playing two simple coin-tossing games, both of which are weighted in your opponent's favour, switching between the games can produce a favourable result. This talk by Professor Tony Mann will demonstrate the paradox and explain how it's been used to study the behaviour of viruses and how it can reduce the risk in investors' portfolios. Seats will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
