Typecast: Flinders Petrie and Francis Galton

An exhibition to mark the centenary of the death of Francis Galton, known as the 'father of eugenics'. The show looks in detail at Galton's commission of Flinders Petrie to take photographs of the different racial types found on monuments from Ancient Egypt. The show includes some of Petrie's photographs, as well as other material that explores the Petrie Museum's collection and the impact of racial theory on archaeology.
