In case you missed the buzz last year; yes, there’s a beach on a Croydon rooftop, and it’s actually amazing! After welcoming more than 30,000 visitors in its debut season, Costa Del Croydon is officially returning this summer – and it’s ready to make even more waves.
Running seven days a week from August to 31, the event transforms the rooftop of Centrale Shopping Centre into a seaside-style escape, complete with sand, splash zones, games, music and cocktails – all with sky-high views and zero entry fee. That’s right, its completely FREE to visit.
Returning to the rooftop of the multi-storey shopping centre, Centrale & Whitgift, from Friday August 1, Costa Del Croydon is the place to be this summer. Following its outstanding debut last summer with over 30,000 keen beach-goers along its sands, this year is set to be even bigger and better than before!
Bringing back beloved faves like the Splash Zone, bumper cars and bingo, alongside a daily programme of new (and many free) activities to try, there’s a whole host of things to do with the fam – or group chat – this August.
So you’re telling me there’s a real beach in Croydon?
Yes, really! Not only is it designed using real sand in a beach setting on top of a shopping centre’s rooftop, but Costa Del Croydon is a well-rounded community-driven event, designed to ‘bring joy to local residents’ who may not have easy access to more traditional beach destinations. With many Croydon families living in flats without access to outdoor space, this pop-up beach offers a much-needed respite from London’s roasting summer heat. Dreamy, right?

Nice, I’ll grab my cozzie! When does Costa Del Croydon officially open?
Opening officially on Friday August 1 2025 and running seven days a week until Sunday August 31, Costa Del Croydon offers its visitors a month-long beach experience in the heart of Croydon. With two daily sessions (11.30am-3pm and 3.30pm-7pm), you’ve got the option of a late-brunch-to-early-lunch vibe or a grab-a-cocktail-it’s-nearly-sunset vibe.
Wow, so soon! But where is it actually located?
As Croydon’s leading community retail and leisure hub, it makes perfect sense that Costa Del Croydon is held on top of Centrale’s rooftop. Simply take the lift up to Level 3A and step into another world.
And as Centrale & Whitgift is home to household brands including House of Fraser, M&S and Next, you could even add in a post-beach shop if you fancied it.
Oh, and if you’re looking for something a little more cultural to fill your day with, head to local community educational organisations such as The Textile Repair Cafe or The Wellness Centre. Go on, just make it a full day out.
Awesome! So what’s in store this year?
Expect the return of some serious fan favourites: the splash zone, bumper cars, trampolines, 90s beach bingo and salsa sessions – all alongside a daily programme of free workshops, live performances and plenty of sunny surprises. Whether you’re wrangling your toddlers or chasing after cocktails, there’s something for everyone.
And new for 2025? More shaded areas, a toddler-friendly paddling zone, and a fresh line up of food traders, offering kids menus and meal deals, plus a bring-your-own-picnic policy to keep things inclusive and easy.

Sounds great! What food and drink options are available?
Whether you’re grabbing street food with the kids, after-work drinks with mates, or sipping a spritz while watching live music, Costa Del Croydon’s food and drink line-up has your cravings covered. Expect a rotating mix of global flavours, seaside staples, and very well-stocked bar trucks.
Alright, I’m sold! How do I get tickets?
Visit the website here to register for ticket alerts, where you can pre-book your spot on any selected date. Just keep in mind that free pre-book tickets are released weekly, so they are available on a first-come, first-served basis... but never fear! Plenty of walk-up spots are available daily – just join the walk-up queue.
Oh, and believe it or not, rain or shine, Costa Del Croydon ensures the party goes on, whatever the weather. Because, let’s be honest, we all know how quickly our beloved English weather can turn…
