Lots of great pubs: The Aeronaut with its all weather garden, circus performances and beers, The George & Dragon and Dragonfly brewery for an awesome proper old pub with equally awesome beer (try the Dark Matter and the Achtung!). The Station House does decent pizzas and puglian tapas and has a fantastic front yard in the summer.

Vindinista is a cosy (tiny) wine bar that's pricey but top notch. Run by the same folk as the wine +cheese shop over the road who know their onions.

There's not much entertainment so until the Curzon cinema comes to the old library next year it's mostly comedy and bands playing at the pubs or the retro gamers' paradise Heart of Gaming in North Acton.

Tim at English Butchers on Churchfield Rd - the best sausages and cuts for a Sunday roast!

Acton is sprawling, disconnected, and – with seven TFL stations – is arguably lacking an identifiable hub to grow out from. But there’s a lot going on, and the hipsters have largely been kept at bay (so far).

Obviously the Aeronaut (did Timeout ever actually review it? For shame) … aside from the circus/brewery thang the beer garden is now HuGe.

The Dragonfly Brewery’s great. Vindinista / Park and Bridge … actually Churchfield Rd generally. It’s great getting off at Acton Central and being greeted by the quaint level crossing etc.

Stik’s incredible ‘Big Mother’ is the world’s tallest street artwork.

Oxygen Trampoline Park is fun for more energetic types.

And Gunnersbury Park (technically half in Acton) is genuinely one of London’s best and undersubscribed green spaces.

Laveli Bakery in Acton Central, very close to the Overground station. It´s really amazing and tasteful their marzipan croissant!

@Natália Baffatto Acton Central Overground station is a real hub with our bookswap and loads of flowers in beds along the platform. Nearby ace iced coffee at BakeMe, the best Chinese food at North China and Vindinista - Acton Central's new (and uber cool) wine bar. Plus we have street parties and Playing Out so lots of community spirit. And Hakkekat with a huge range of exotic groceries and spices. Hoping for a Curzon cinema within walking distance soon!
