Golders Hill Park - 5-10 minutes walk from the tube station, depending on which entrance is used - is the best thing in Golders Green. A beautifully-landscaped park, with spectacular rolling lawns, lake, informal zoo, colourful flowerbeds and cafe well-known for its ice cream kiosk. It's very popular with all ages, and particularly friendly for children. Alternatively one can access the far end of Hampstead Heath quite quickly from the station and walk its full length to Gospel Oak or Southend Green - several miles - of this remarkable green space, taking in lots of changes of landscape.

L'Artista, a long-established and lively Italian restaurant under the railway bridge, just outside the tube station, is a great place to eat in Golders Green. Good value, large menu and friendly service.

Golders Green bus yard is a fascinating and busy mix of red double-deckers that head off in all sorts of useful directions ... with lots of National Express coaches to places as diverse as Inverness, Nottingham and Stansted Airport. It's a useful alternative to Victoria Coach Station for buses going north.
