What, to you, says summer in London? That’s what we’re asking the musicians soundtracking our sunny days and balmy evenings. Gracey is a singer songwriter going from strength to strength since releasing her first EP ‘Imposter Syndrome’ in 2020; last year, her release ‘Don’t Need Love’ got her nominated for a BRIT Award for Song of the Year. Her new track, ‘Lonely Heart’ with Jax Jones and Martin Solveig is a perfect summer bop – so we thought that she’d have a pretty solid idea of how to make the most of those sunny days and balmy evenings in the capital. You can catch Gracey at festivals all over the UK this summer, from Camp Bestival (Aug 20) and Witcombe Festival (Aug 27) to Godiva Festival (Sep 3).

Want to get around with ease this summer? What’s Your Thing is created in partnership with FREE NOW, the mobility super app, which gives you the freedom to zip around the capital with Black Cabs, Private Rides, eScooters or eBikes.

Eating and drinking: Camden Market West Yard

One of my favourite places to go, especially when it’s a good day, is down to Camden Market West Yard. There are so many amazing little food stalls with so many different cuisines and foods – just walking through it makes your mouth water. Once you pick what you fancy, you go sit with it by the water, even get yourself a cheeky Aperol Spritz after too. It’s such a great vibe, I adore Camden.

Chilling out: Regent’s Park

Obviously, Primrose Hill is one of the most beautiful spots in London to chill, but sometimes I find it can get a bit busy, especially when the weather’s good. So instead I’ll just walk over the road and head into Regen’ts Park (via Prince Albert Road), turn left and follow the path round. You end up walking right past the back of London Zoo, where you can see in, and can just hang in the park reading your book next to a couple camels. Quite fun!

Summer listening: ‘Jamaica’ by Theme Park

I definitely have some artists and bands that I heavily associate with the summer months. One of my all-time favourite summer songs is a tune called ‘Jamaica’ by Theme Park. I literally have this song on REPEAT every year when it’s hot and it never gets old. I highly recommend you add it to your August playlist!

Embracing the start of summer

I’ve always started feeling super summery when wandering through Soho in the evenings towards the end of May/start of June. Everyone starts hanging outside the pubs after work, chilling beer in hand as the sun is setting, and there’s this vibrant hum from chatter and laughter in the air. The vibes are just immaculate.
