Mayfair’s Ziggy Green (from Aussie cafe collection Daisy Green) is an ode to the late, great David Bowie. It’s decked out with Bowie-based art, concocts Bowie-inspired cocktails (like the Major Tom or Milk and Red Peppers) and serves up a gourmet Shepherd’s pie, supposedly Bowie’s favourite dish. Now, it’s gearing up for Ziggyfest, a day-long celebration of the legendary performer featuring a bunch of people who had the honour of spending time with him.
Running from noon ‘til midnight, things will kick off with champagne brunch hosted by Spiders From Mars drummer Woody Woodmansey and Bowie’s hairstylist Suzi Ronson. The rest of the day will include a Bowie tour of Soho by Geoff Marsh (V&A Curator of David Bowie Is) and a conversation with one of his photographers, Chris Duffy. Heading into the evening, there’ll be DJ sets and live music from musicians who played with Bowie at Live Aid. And stock up on your glitter and hair gel– there’ll also be a Bowie lookalike competition. The winner will take home a £500 cash prize, a ‘money can’t buy’ black card for Daisy Green and a self-portrait by Duffy. Get down and get Ziggy with it. Tickets go on sale at 10am on August 28.
