Series four, episodes seven and eight
The plots thicken in ‘Spiral’ this week – all 93 of them. At the bar, la roux is up to her old tricks – risking her career and relationship for a group of humourless activists who even she doesn’t seem to like very much, while Judge Roban, a good man in a bad system, clings to his morals for dear life.

On the beat, the team closes in on the gun-toting Turks (as a general rule in ‘Spiral’, if they’re foreign then they’re probably up to no good) and Gilou’s creepy Egyptians go to some extreme lengths to secure a late license for their floating bar. An A3 booze permit in Paris must be hard to come by. Meanwhile, things are going strangely well for Capitaine Berthaud. While her professional life is being obstructed by the convincingly odious Herville (surely a distant cousin of ‘The Wire’s’ Mayor Carcetti), we see Paris’s least groomed lady settling into domestic bliss with commissioner Brémont and his teen daughters.

By the law of Laure this surely means something bad is about to happen to screw it all up: enter a handsome new special agent who will be familiar to committed ‘Spiral’ watchers (Spirulinas?) from seasons of yore.
